Migrant Reading Oases

Like a mighty river of humanity, Migrant workers leave their homes, in Mexico, to find work in America. The challenges are many. Now, thanks to “Oases of Literacy”, these families quickly gain English literacy skills which give them access to information about health, social services, work and immigration services. These “Oases of Literacy” are consistent throughout Mexico, and US Migrants Streams. They consist of voluntary organizations of schools, health centers, libraries, technology centers, Family Literacy Centers, churches and other community based organizations linked together by common approaches and technology. Student literacy skill development data is immediately available via the web-based Binational Student Data Exchange.
